Spring 2023 registration is now **closed** for all age groups

PAYMENT DUE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION

For 2023, registrations will be automatically deleted after 3 days if payment is not received. Payment must cover not only current lacrosse registration fees but also any outstanding balances owed for other VYI sports.  Be sure to pay with a credit card at the end of the registration process.

VYI EMAIL INFORMATION

VYI Lacrosse and other VYI programs use email as a primary means of communication. Occasionally emails are sent to all VYI families about other sports.  If you "opt out" of one of those communications, you will not receive any email communication about lacrosse.  Please do not opt out. To confirm that you will receive emails, login to your account by clicking the Edit My Account link at the bottom of the website's left menu. After logging in, click your name or the name of any of your children to edit their personal information.  Make sure the “Do Not Email” field is not checked.

PROGRAM BOUNDARIES

Vienna Youth, Inc. Lacrosse (VYI Lacrosse) participates in the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL) for all girls and boys age/grade divisions.

Under NVYLL rules, all registered players are expected to play for clubs that serve specific public high school pyramids. The three high school pyramids served by our program are Madison, Marshall, and Oakton. Players residing within the boundaries of those high school pyramids are eligible to play for VYI Lacrosse.

Those players who reside outside of the Madison, Marshall, and/or Oakton pyramid boundaries, but still wish to play for VYI, may request a waiver from NVYLL to play for VYI. Waivers are considered on a case-by-case basis. For further information about the waiver process, please contact Mary Forde, Commissioner - VYI Lacrosse, at

NOTE: Waiver requests to play for another NVYLL club besides VYI Lacrosse will not be processed/accepted/approved if submitted to the Commissioner after player assessment sessions/tryouts (boys, girls, “A” team, B level, Modified Field) have commenced for VYI Lacrosse (this applies to all players).

AGE / GRADE DIVISION CLASSIFICATIONS

In 2023, girls will continue to play in grade-based divisions (based on the player’s school grade for the 2021-22 school year) as follows:

Grades K/2

Grades 3/4

Grades 5/6

Grades 7/8

In 2023, boys will continue to participate in age-based divisions at 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions.

8U: All players must be born between 09/01/2014 and 08/31/2016

10U: All players must be born between 09/01/2012 and 08/31/2014

12U: All players must be born between 09/01/2010 and 08/31/2012

14U: All players must be born between 3/15/2008 and 08/31/2010

Both boys’ and girls’ divisions are divided into conferences based upon the skill level of the players.  For the 2023 season, the NVYLL conferences are “A” for advanced players, “B” for intermediate players, and “C” for novice or less experienced players.

Boys’ teams will be divided into A, B and C conferences at the 10U, 12U, 14U age groups. Boys 10U-A, 12U, and 14U will play “full field”; 10U-B and 8U will play “modified field”.

Girls’ teams will be divided into A, B, and C conferences at grades 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8. Girls 3/4A, 5/6 and 7/8 will play “full field”; 3/4B and ALL K/2 will play “modified field”.

VOLUNTEERS

VYI Lacrosse needs coaches and other volunteers!

Please note that the number of teams we are able to field is directly related to the number of coaches we have. As in past years, due to a number of factors, we anticipate that our registration numbers may very well outpace the number of coaches available, particularly at the C level. Therefore, we are looking for new coaches! Coaching is a great way to learn the game and contribute to the community. If you have lacrosse experience and/or any amount of coaching experience of any kind (soccer, football, basketball, hockey, etc.) please consider coaching for us. (Note: VYI will pay for coaches' training offered through U.S. Lacrosse and other training sources.) Also, if you know of anyone without kids in the program, but who love to coach/work with kids, please ask them to consider coaching for VYI. Email    for more information.

You can register to coach by completing the Coach Application below.

2023 Offseason Lacrosse - Boys Equipment Rental

***STOP!***  Please read this note.  This form is for equipment rental only! Only submit this form if you need to rent equipment.  You will also need to register your player for the appropriate age group.

Use this program to register and pay for boys rental equipment. Then, during equipment rental sessions, all you need to bring is a deposit check for $200.  (Your deposit check is only cashed if equipment is not returned at the end of the regular playing season.)

Equipment will be distributed at the VYI Annex (the small building next to the Vienna Community Center near the bike path) at a date to be announced in January. The door to the lacrosse equipment area is at the back of the building. Your player must be present to try on the equipment.

Please see the VYI Lacrosse website for the equipment fitting and pickup schedule.

NOTE:

1) Equipment is not necessary for Little Lax.

2) Registering for equipment rental is not the same as registering to play.  If your child is playing in the upcoming season, please also register him in the appropriate age group.
